Is this the same thing as web hosting?
Not exactly. A typical web hosting account gives you space on a shared web server on which you can post your own web site. Usually you create the HTML, Javascript, graphics and whatever else is necessary to make your site work. Often the hosting company provides tools and components you can use to build your site.
PurePortals differs in that it is a completely "managed" solution. When you establish an account with us, you build your portal by working within our content management application. Your web site will be controlled and rendered by our portal applications. Although you can post content like HTML, Javascript and images as modules within our portal framework, you cannot directly post web pages and content that reside outside of our portal framework.
This results in a simple easy to use method of building complex portals without the need to hack HTML, Javascript, CSS, XML, etc.

Will my portal be hosted on a shared or dedicated server?
All our standard solutions utilize a shared server. If you require a dedicated server solution or virtual private server solution, please contact PurePortals for more information.
What kind of facility is my web server hosted in?
Our servers are hosted in a professionally managed facility to ensure the best reliability and redundancy for your portals. Our data center has multiple connections to tier 1 network providers. Our servers enjoy all the typical carrier class redundancies that you expect including N+1 redundancy climate control, fire control, and backup power generators. Physical access to our servers is secured.
If your portals are free, who pays for your web servers?
DotNetNuke-Portal.com is a free ad-supported service. When you create a free portal, we place a text ads box on each page of your portal. When you or your portal users click on these ads, this generates a small amount of revenue for us. This revenue pays for our hosting costs and other overhead.
